It’s been awhile since i’ve posted a favourites video! I thought this time i’d also add in a couple of duds as well so you know what to not look out for when your doing your Priceline hauls!

I’d love if you watched the video, but if your short on time here are some quick notes on each product.

Favourites –

L’Oreal Lumi Cushion Foundation (RRP $29.95AUD) – Such an easy base to work with. It doesn’t give a whole lot of coverage but a good quick option for the weekends when you just want to even out the skin and keep things pretty light.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Shade 10 Light (RRP $14.95AUD) – Said to be a good dupe for the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I agree somewhat but I actually prefer this because it doesn’t settle into my fine lines as much. The colour selection could be a little better but for a cheapie i’m not complaining!
Rimmel Sculpting Palette in 002 Coral Glow (RRP $16.95AUD) – Go and buy this immediately!!! The blush isn’t really for me, I have better options. However, the contour and highlight are EVERYTHING. The palette isn’t overly pigmented but that’s what I like about it, the contour blends out beautifully and just gives that extra oomph to your makeup. The highlight is the best i’ve found in one of these drugstore palettes, it’s a subtle glow which is perfect for everyday wear.
Maybelline Master Precise Liner in Blackest Black (RRP $15.95AUD) – Have you seen that meme of the girl doing wing eyeliner and she ends up with just a huge panda eyes? That was me, before I discovered this eyeliner. If you’ve ever struggled with doing wings, I recommend trying this eyeliner out. I just press it where I want the flick to go and drag down to my eye, they may not always be perfectly even but they get pretty darn close.
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Celebrity Skin (RRP $18.00USD) – Ughhhh so you may be aware there has been some drama surrounding Jeffree Star lately. I’m not sure if i’ll be supporting the brand anymore but I do adore this liquid lipstick shade, I’ll be searching for a dupe (any ideas?).
Pixi Glow Tonic (RRP $46.00AUD for 250ml) – I remember hearing Caroline Hirons talk about this product ages ago so it’s always been a wishlist item. I picked this small bottle up in the US earlier this year and will definitely be buying a bigger bottle next time. It’s a great introduction into the world of chemical exfoliants and just makes your skin feel so smooth (especially now that it’s Winter).
Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion (RRP $12.95USD) – I got this one off iherb from a Skincare Addition subreddit recommendation. This is a beefier chemical exfoliant with 10% glycolic acid (the Pixi Glow Tonic is only 5%). When my skin is feeling really rough and dull this is what i’ll put on it at night. If you want you can use my referral code at iherb to get $5 off your order! CODE = VUL257
GlamGlow Thirstymud Mask (RRP $98.00AUD full size)- I didn’t get along with the GlamGlow mask in the black packaging that everyone was raving about, so I was a little concerned buying this that I might have a similar feeling. Nope. Love it! I don’t actually use it as a mask, well I do but more as an overnight mask just lightly putting it on my skin so it’s not completely sinking in but isn’t super thick. Next morning; radiant, plump skin. I need to start a piggy bank fund for a full size I think.

Fails –

Mode Lip Cream in Sleeping Beauty (RRP $3.00AUD) – I’m not overly mad about this one because it was so cheap, I also don’t know what I was thinking when I bought this shade (was it the bright lights of Coles, or a work stress induced purchase?). I will try and make this work with different lip liners underneath and may come back to you!
Rimmel Wonder’full Volume Colourist Mascara (RRP $18.95AUD) – This is the mascara that is meant to tint your lashes over 2 weeks, I have fair lashes and didn’t notice a difference. I also didn’t get much volume or length from this mascara. I haven’t had much luck with any Rimmel mascaras to be honest and should really just stop buying them.
Covergirl Lashblast 24 Hour Mascara (RRP $18.95AUD I think!) – I don’t think this is actually available anymore, hence no link. THANK GOODNESS! The Covergirl Lashblast mascaras are among some of my favourites & when I saw this for half price I grabbed it. If you see it, walk straight past. I had such a hard time removing this that I was rubbing at my eyes! No where does it mention it’s waterproof or anything. Yuck Yuck Yuck!

Did you have any Faves & Fails for the month?

Oh my! It’s been a hot minute since I uploaded a video, this was actually filmed back in February when it was summer, hot and my hair super flat. I’ve had it sitting in my to edit folder for so long and after filming a couple of videos this weekend I thought I better get it out there before these new ones hit.

These are the goodies I picked up while in the US of A, including some thoughts on IMATS LA and what I bought there. Hope you enjoy, I think I may have gotten the YouTube bug back again this weekend.

This past weekend was a long weekend in NSW, Thanks Lizzie!. We had one of my friends come up to stay for the weekend, which gave me a chance to go and see some of the more touristy parts of where I live that I would normally avoid.

We started off Saturday morning right with breakfast and coffee at a local cafe and then headed out to do a bush walk at South Lawson. We did the 4 waterfall circuit which was a 2hr round trip and graded medium (I was still feeling the pull on my legs for days). I bought a new camera bag last week (this one if you’re interested), so it was a good chance to pack up the DSLR and take some photos.

The walk was a bit challenging particularly towards the end, but it was nice to get out in the fresh air and get a bit of exercise. I think I’ll start doing these walks more often and even try and get better at this particular route. I’m really lucky that I have so many of these types of walks a stones throw from me now so I may as well take advantage of it!

My friend also mentioned to us that he started Geocaching and we downloaded the app and went on a couple of hunts for Geocaches. We managed to find 4 that day! It’s a lot of fun and I recommend it for finding spots you’d never think of exploring. One of the spots was on the side of the highway around this rock i’d never even noticed before, and the view down to the city alone was amazing. I’m definitely keeping my eye on the app to see if I can find more!

We then headed up the mountain to go and check out the Three Sisters @ Katoomba, this was just a quick stop to take a couple of photos because it was packed with tourists. I always forget how beautiful the view is until I go back there, it’s absolutely stunning.

Shane (the husband) cooked some amazing beef short ribs on the smoker for dinner!. These are becoming a bit of a staple for when we have people over since they’re easy to cook and taste absolutely delicious. Hungry?

The next day started off a bit colder and we headed up to check out the Hydro Majestic @ Medlow Bath. I was hoping we could find a nice breakfast spot in here but the cafe didn’t open until 11am and for lunch only. Wasted opportunity! I think a cafe that did breakfast would do amazingly well here. So we had a look around and then headed up to Blackheath for breakfast and to check out the growers market.

Then, if my legs weren’t sore enough from the bush walk the day before they were soon going to be!. We attended Vivid Festival on Sunday night. I love going every year but the crowds just seem to be getting worse, I think I’ll try a mid week night next year. We didn’t get to see as much as we wanted to but we did manage to see the new installations at the Botanical Gardens before it closed down for the night.

Taking a break from being a tourist in my own city, I had a day of getting pedis and shopping with my mum on the Monday. We managed to score a few bargains (yay!). I actually took some photos of my purchases to do a blog post about (coming soon!).

I also set up a new Instagram dedicated solely to the blog, so it won’t be as random as my personal account! Go follow me Here!

Hope you enjoyed this little post about what I’ve been up to, hopefully I can try and do some more of these types of posts because I certainly love reading them.

My last post in March mentioned the fact i’d be taking a little break from doing the Weekly Deals posts for a couple of weeks due to moving… Weeeeeeeeell it ended up being more like a month. Oops! So let’s catch up!

MOVING/ Holy crap this has been tough… I’ve moved by myself as an adult a total of 3 times prior to this move. Granted, this was bigger then any of the others i’ve had before but I think i’m still recovering from it all. We’ve made the move from suburban Sydney to the lovely Blue Mountains, which I absolutely love and have loved for so so long. My parents moved there a few years ago now and since then I’ve always felt that we’d end up there as well at some point. I wasn’t quite prepared for how much work this move was going to be or how stressed I was going to be during/after it. Packing/Culling was fine (I love throwing stuff out!), we even had a garage sale & then followed up with a car boot sale the next day and made some extra $$’s while getting rid of stuff (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!).

We managed to move over the Easter long weekend so could do it in little spurts and then get a truck for the day for the big stuff, I am so grateful to our friends and family that helped us out, we are so lucky to have such awesome people to help us. So all good happy happy, then it came to cleaning up the old place, I went back on my own thinking I could do it all in a day – boy was I wrong. I ended up on the middle of an empty lounge room floor in tears… This was going to be a common pattern over the next few weeks to be honest (ugh).

As of right now we are pretty settled (or mostly anyway) the dogs are loving having such a big backyard to explore. We are now completely done with the old place and it’s rented out at a ridiculous price for what it is to someone else while we are living in a much nicer home. I only have a few more things to unpack and the spare guest room to sort out.

COMMUTING/ Something else i’m doing now that we’ve made the big move is commuting. I haven’t really commuted since I finally got my drivers licence but I made the decision to do the whole public transport thing 4 days a week and drive on Fridays (depending on if we have a social commitment after work) to work. Main reason is to save some km’s in my car and the fact it actually works out cheaper for me to get the train and bus. The thing I don’t like is the fact I have to get up so early (5.20am…). The thing I do like though is that I’ve been able to catch up on a lot of Podcasts and start reading a lot more (moving onto my next subject… Smooth transition). I do also want to try and get organized and writing blog posts on my trip home (my head is way too fuzzy to do this in the morning, plus I snooze for the majority of the trip lol).

READING/ As mentioned above, one of the things I really like about commuting is the fact I get a chance to read. I find if i’m at home I can always find a million other things I should be doing before reading (It’s a bit sad really that catching up on the latest Kardashian episode is made a priority over reading in my life). If you’re keen to see what I’ve been reading I’ve been updating my Goodreads regularly when I get a new book. I also joined up to the local library which I’ve been using on a weekly basis. One day I’ll have to post a photo of the view from my library, it’s incredible.

COOKING/ I love cooking and I had become really lazy/unmotivated with cooking dinner every night and often finding myself heading to the local KFC for a quick dinner fix. Now that we live quite away from these temptations (except for the yummy Thai place up the road) and the fact my kitchen is much much nicer and more spacious, and gas! I love cooking with gas!. I’ve actually been cooking dinner almost every night. We still do go out on occasion but even this has really reduced. I’m thinking I might start sharing some of my recipes on here; there’s nothing revolutionary but I enjoy reading everyday peoples recipes, especially if they’re fast and tasty! I’ve been pinning a few things I want to try out and my current food/pinning obsession are sheet pan dinners, one pan to clean? Sign me up!

CLEAN WITH ME VIDEOS/ I am oddly obsessed with the clean with me videos circulating on YouTube at the moment. If you haven’t watched one I suggest checking out How Jen Does It, you’ll be soon filling a spray bottle with water & vinegar and cleaning every surface of the house.

SNAPCHAT/ I am kinda sorta obsessed with Snapchat! Add me! Username: vulcanella

So that’s it for now, hopefully I’ll finally get myself sorted out and get back to some regular content on here. I really do miss blogging and the community that surrounds blogging. Have a wonderful weekend!

five current favourites

I have so many new things i’m loving at the moment and I feel like since I’ve been working on downsizing my stash that a few oldie but goodie gems are sure to make an appearance in a favourites post soon.

Here are five of the best at the moment!

1. Dettol Profresh Peach Burst Shower Gel RRP $6.49AUD – Shower gels are something i’m never loyal with and just throw in whatever scent i’m feeling (or is on special) when I’m doing the weekly shop. This shower gel however has been thrown into the trolley twice in a row (unheard of). This is such a fresh peach scent that stays on the skin. It does as it says and cleans well, but the scent (drooooooooool).

2. Models Prefer Soft Touch Mineral Powder in Soft Focus RRP $16.99AUD – I’ve raved about this powder ever since I first got it. I’ve used this everyday since I purchased it and I’ve finally hit pan! I don’t own the Hourlgass Ambient Lighting Powders but this is meant to be a good dupe; for me it’s just a great light finishing powder that adds a bit of extra glow to my pretty dull/dehydrated complexion. I never find that this makes me look cakey and in saying that i’m not sure it’d be enough of a finishing powder for those with oilier skin types. However I love it and will definitely be buying another when this baby runs out.

3. L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush RRP $19.95AUD – Okay so firstly let me apologize because this shade is not available in Australia, I picked it up on my trip to the US earlier this year. Why it isn’t available here I don’t know because it’s seriously stunning! This is a copper shade that is so metallic it almost looks wet on the eye. I’ve been wearing it with a warm matte brown shade buffed into the crease, this on the lid, a bit of brown pencil liner smudged into my lashes, mascara and done! If you can get your hands on this particular shade and you like warm coppery colours, do it!

4. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed RRP $36AUD – This shade has been on my wishlist for the longest time, I remember seeing Emma talk about it on her blog quite a few times and since then it’s been a must buy. It’s a dusty rose shade that really works with any eye/lip combo you have going, it’s the no-brainer shade. A little pricey for a blush but a little goes a long way with these.

5. Essence I love Nude Eyeshadow in Sweet Like Chocolate RRP $5.10AUD – This is such a pretty warm shade (can you see a trend here?) it has a slight shimmer to it, but it’s very very slight. I’ve been using this in my crease for the look I mentioned above.
