One of my favourite types of videos to watch on YouTube is the Anti-Haul, don’t get me wrong I still do love a good haul video but just as much i’m enjoying seeing what people are not going to buy and why they aren’t buying it. My faves are definitely the ones from Kimberly Clark (Clark Clark) please tell me if you watch her you also add on the additional Clarks? lol.

I am actually trying to downsize my collection and be a little more aware of my beauty purchases. I mean do I really need 20 different foundations in my collection? Nope! So the idea of an Anti Haul really speaks to me.

Another good place to check out if like me you are trying to downsize is the MakeUpRehab subreddit – I always go there for inspiration to get rid of stuff, and not buy stuff.

Just a sidenote – this isn’t about bashing brands or products, it’s simply what I’m not going to spend my money on. If you love these products, awesome! I’m just not planning on buying them myself.

Too Faced Natural Love Eye Shadow Collection – RRP $59.00USD (No Australian release or price available as yet) –

Honestly, this is something I would normally be drawn to – a million neutrals! However, I’ve kind of found my groove with the eyeshadows I have right now and this would just be duplicating what I already own. I think Too Faced need to calm down on the releases a little bit, it feels like i’m seeing a new palette release from them every other week. I own the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette and while I like it, it’s nothing groundbreaking. Also, I think if you own a couple of the chocolate bar palettes you’d already own the majority of these shades. I have no idea what this will retail for in Australia but the regular sized chocolate bar palettes retail for around $75 so I see this possibly being around the $100 mark (I could be way off). I’ll be saving my money and not bothering with this one.

Benefit Boxed Blush in Galifornia – RRP $52AUD

Holy shit! I did not realize how expensive these blushes actually were nowadays. I could buy 10 blushes from Essence for this price and probably find an exact dupe. Sure, the packaging is cute and i’m sure the scent is lovely but you do not need to spend $52 on a single blush. Nope. This is a pretty generic coral pink shade and really isn’t different enough to warrant that price tag in my opinion. Temptalia has listed a pretty decent sized list of dupes so might be worth checking those out.

Australis Liquid Elixir Serum Foundation – RRP $24.95AUD

I was actually really looking forward to this product when I first saw it sneak peeked on Instagram. I saw it on stand during the Priceline sale and decided to have a play with it, if you are after a pretty invisible coverage foundation then this is perfect for you. It literally disappeared on my hand and offered no coverage, so I put it down and walked away. Such a shame because I thought this formula would be awesome for my dry skin. I’ve never had much luck with Australis foundations to be honest, however a lot of their other products really kick ass.

Crayola for Clinique Chubby Stick – RRP $36AUD (I think)

Ugh… This is really a personal preference thing but I just find this packaging really really tacky. I get the reason why they did it, I mean they kind of already look like Crayola crayons but I just don’t know if it’s really targetting the right market. I’m not really a fan of the Clinique Chubby Sticks anyway, but I just wanted to mention this one because of the packaging.

Hope you enjoyed this Anti-Haul! What are you NOT buying?

If you saw my previous post, I was talking about my shopping list for the Priceline 40% off cosmetics sale (sadly, now over). I didn’t end up getting everything on my list and subbed out a few things.

I actually had more in my basket but then told myself, do I really NEED another matte mauvey brown lipstick (Covergirl Katy Kat Matte in Catoure). It actually turns out my instinct to not get it was spot on because they are now 1/2 price this week.

So here are the products I did actually end up getting –

L’Oreal True Match Foundation in N2 – This was on my list and luckily the stand was pretty well stocked and I got my shade. I’m wearing it today and so far am really really happy with it!

Sensationail Gel Polish in Sugar Plum & Heirloom Lilac – I originally had the Opallac gel polishes on my list to go with my Opallac kit, but I saw these on clearance for $7.00 and the bargain hunter in me decided to go with these instead. It looks like they are discontinuing this line so good idea to stock up (I may try and grab more this weekend at this price). I didn’t get the 40% discount on these but they were cheap enough.

Maybelline Master Strobing Stick in 200 Medium – Impulse purchase alert! I swatched this on my hand and thought it was such a nice subtle highlight that I could chuck under my foundation (or over). I got the shade 200 Medium because it was goldy and the lighter shade was more pinky. I’ve discovered recently that goldy highlighters definitely suit me more. Another product i’m wearing today and really like, I usually go for a bit more BAM with my highlighter but this is just a nice subtle glow.

Essence Make Me Brow in Blondey Browns – This was on my list and so damn cheap! Wearing it today and can definitely see how people compare it as a good dupe to the Benefit Gimmebrow (at a fraction of the price).

Maybelline Volume Express Colossal The Big Shot Mascara – I love trying the new Maybelline mascaras, I’m going to give this a week or 2 before I give a verdict because I like my mascaras to dry out a bit but so far it gave me a bit of volume and length so yay!.

Essence Satin Blush in Satin Love – This was an on the whim purchase. I’ve been steering clear of my regular coral blushes and moving towards more nude/mauve/rosey blushes and this fit the bill. I wore it today and holy pigmentation! I went a touch overboard and had to get some intense buffing in to get away from clown territory eeeeek!. The shade however, is pretty but next time i’ll be not so heavy handed.

Essence Matt Touch Blush in Rose Me Up! – Again, another blush in the colour family i’m currently drawn to. This is a pretty matte blush and looked pretty subtle when swatched. Looking forward to trying it out.

That’s it for another Priceline sale! (well until theres a good catalogue sale lol). I still had a voucher from christmas so put this towards my purchase and ended up only spending $35 of my own money.

Did you pick anything up in the sale?

It’s that time of the year again, when Priceline shelves are completely ambushed with the 40% off cosmetics sale!

I’m pretty lucky that my store is always pretty well stocked and not 5 people deep at the Maybelline stand (ah the joys of living kind of regional!) Here’s a few things i’m hoping to pick up in the sale. I may do a little haul post on here after i’ve gotten my goodies as well.

L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation (RRP $29.95 / Sale Price $17.97) – I haven’t used this foundation for awhile, but I remember quite liking it. My current foundation stash is getting pretty low (yay for downsizing, nay for options) so I thought I’d grab this one again… if my shade is in stock. Some notable mentions to check out – Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation (both formulas), Covergirl Outlast Stay All Day Foundation & the old school Revlon Colourstay!

Models Prefer Soft Touch Mineral Powder in Soft Focus (RRP $16.99 / Sale Price $10.19) – I’ve recently finished up another one of these, so yay timing! This is a supposed dupe for the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. I don’t really care if it is or not, I love it. For the drier skins out there it gives you a bit of a glow and keeps your foundation in place a little longer. If you want a bit more coverage the Australis Fresh & Flawless Powders are always a good option as well, I’ve been using mine since my Models Prefer is finished and I’ve been really enjoying it again.

Maybelline Volume Express Colossal Big Shot Mascara (RRP $19.95 / Sale Price $11.97) – This is a newbie that i didn’t even really think of trying until I was talking to my friend Ange and she said it was on her wishlist, I trust her recommendations so I think i’ll grab this!. It’s always a good idea to stock up on mascara during these sales. If I can’t get this one, I’ll be buying yet another Maybelline Lash Sensational (my fave!) or the new version Lash Sensational Luscious. You can’t go too wrong with Maybelline mascaras. Plus, sexy chrome packaging? Hell yeah!

Brow Mascara TBC – My current L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper has seen better days, so time to throw her out and add something new in the collection. I’ve got my eye on a few to try but I think it’ll be between the Essence Make Me Brow (RRP $5.10 / Sale Price $3.06) or  NYX Tinted Brow Mascara (RRP $12.95 Sale Price $7.77). I’m open to trying others as well so will be having a look out for something to get in this catagory.

Opallac Gel Polishes (RRP $19.95 / Sale Price $11.97) – I bought the starter kit in the last Priceline 40% off sale. Honestly, this was the best purchase I made all year. I’ve become less of a nail girl over the years and wanted an easy way to do my nails and have them not chip for weeks. This set is amazing (I’ll do a full post one day). I’ll be picking up another base coat and top coat (essentials) and maybe a colour or two.

The next item is something i’ve had my eye on, but it’s definitely a do I need it? will it spark joy? item.

NYX Liquid Suede Lipstick Trio

Image from Priceline

This is the NYX Liquid Suede Trio Pack (RRP $24.00 / Sale Price $14.40). Hear me out – One full size liquid suede @ full price is $14.95 and all 3 of these are full size; I want the shade Brooklyn Thorn (thanks to this video by Safiya) which is in this set but oddly not available as a single buy on shelf. I know i’ll never wear it but I also really really want to own Stone Fox. I’m trying to Kimberly Clark myself and say you don’t need it, don’t buy it. We shall see!

I’ll also be checking out the Essence stand to see if anything new is about, or anything I want to try. With 40% off the stuff on the stand is practically free!.

Ahhhh so there you have it! What are you planning on picking up at Priceline?, or have already hauled?

bargainebaybrushes

These brushes have been showing up all over social media, first originally by the brand Artis and for quite a hefty price tag. The dupes followed appearing on Ebay & AliExpress so I thought i’d give them a shot. I didn’t feel too bad about spending $13.99AUD (including shipping) on this set to just give them a try.

Honestly, I’ve only used the first 2 brushes because I still don’t know exactly what to use the others for. The first brush I use for foundation and while you need to get used to the “sweeping” technique, it really does give a pretty flawless finish. The next brush I use for concealer in much the same way, I do find it a bit harder to blend right under the eyes so generally will go over it with my Real Techniques Sponge. If you know how I can use the smaller brushes, please let me know.

The only negative I have to say about these brushes is that sometimes the handle feels a bit flimsy and like it might snap, it hasn’t yet though and i’ve been using these brushes almost daily since I received them.

Are these good brushes? Yes!.

Would I purchase the original more expensive Artis ones? Nope, the Ebay versions will do me just fine.

If you would like to purchase off the same seller as I did Click Here. Otherwise just search on Ebay for Toothbrush Foundation Brushes / Toothbrush Makeup Brushes and heaps of options and different sets will appear. Keep in mind these do get shipped from China so sometimes shipping can take awhile (I think mine took about a month to arrive).

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t going to purchase this mainly because I thought to myself… ugh another contour kit that’s going to be average. However, Rimmel had a 50% off sale at Priceline recently and for some reason I ended up buying it. No regrets!

The kit contains a highlight, contour powder and blush and is housed in a sleek rose gold compact (definitely Instagram worthy!).

rimmelkatesculptingkit-coralglow

The blush is just average, yes it’s a pretty coral shade but really not that pigmented and not something i’d reach for too often over my other blushes. The stars of the show are for sure the other two powders in the palette. The contour shade is fantastic, it isn’t overly pigmented which makes the product easier to use and build up if you need to. It does have a slight shimmer similar to NARS Laguna, but still works to chisel out the face. The highlight… oh my word. I’ve been using this on the reg’ and it’s the most used part of this palette for me. The shade leans more gold and it has a slight sheen but isn’t packed with glitter so it’s perfect for everyday wear.

I’m not usually one to do the whole contour/highlighting my face for work but because this palette is so subtle that I’ve been reaching for it even on my work days and it just gives that little extra oomph.

That glow though!

I’ve only seen this in the shade I purchased 002 Coral Glow in Australia, but I have noticed there is another shade or 2 available internationally.

If you’re just getting into the whole contouring/highlighting aka Kardashianing (it should be a technique!) this is a great starting point and even purchasing this full price at $16.95AUD is well worth it, even with the blush shade being average.
