Red Lipstick is one of my favourite makeup items to wear, so here I have condensed it down to my top 5 picks. You’ll notice a theme running through my picks that they are all matte, but I personally think red lipstick suits the matte formula more. There are some at the lower end price point and some at the higher so hopefully something for everyone.
Boy, it was hard but I think I managed to pick a good bunch. Have a watch of my video below & subscribe if you’d like to see more!
I’ve finally photographed my haul from Colourpop I did a couple of months ago and now i’ve had a good play around with the products can safely say, they are awesome and you need them in your life. The price point is amazing with all the lip products and eyeshadows priced at $5USD and the cheek products priced at $8USD. The only thing you will find is that international shipping is a little on the pricey side. I just checked my order notes and the shipping was $28.30USD for 17 products (I did an order with Ange). The products only took 2 weeks to arrive as well which I think is pretty quick. I am definitely ordering again 🙂
I’ll start with the non-lip products because the lip products make up the majority of my haul.
Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in BanditThis is a beautiful rusty brown colour and is a matte eyeshadow. I’ve been applying this with a synthetic brush in my crease and it makes my blue eyes pop. Colourpop do suggest using your fingers with their formula but I find a brush works fine. The texture of these eyeshadows is a little strange as they feel sort of bouncy & creamy yet they finish on the eye in a matte powder finish. I really want to order more of the shadows in my next haul.
Colourpop Super Shock Cheeks in Between The Sheets The cheek products were fairly new when I made my order so I knew I had to try one. I’ve had the Tarte Amazonian Cheek Colour in Exposed on my wishlist for awhile now and thought i’d try and find a dupe of that. A few websites said Between The Sheets is a good alternative. I don’t own Exposed so I can’t compare them side by side but I love this neutral beige-y pink shade and have worn it almost everyday since I got it, not even kidding.
So the lip products is where I really went a little crazy, my initial list was much much longer but I thought I would cut it down a bit just in case I wasn’t a huge fan of the products. Jury is in and i’m a huge fan! I love the formula’s of both the Lippie Pencils and the Lippie Stix. The Lippie Stix come in a few different types of finishes but I got 4 mattes and 1 satin (which look pretty matte to me anyway). I’ll just do a brief rundown of what I got and their shade descriptions, followed by swatches on the lips.
Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Tootsi (Matte) – This is one of those newer colours coming in that are kind of grey/beige toned. Honestly, I don’t really think this looks very good on me but I’m glad I tried it out anyway. P.S. I spelt Tootsi wrong in my pictures, I should have consulted the website first. Oops!
Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Lumiere (Matte) This is my most worn shade from my haul, it’s very wearable everyday and the colour suits me well. It’s a dusty mauvey pink shade that was a collaboration between Colourpop and KathleenLights. I’m definitely getting the matching lip pencil for this in my next order.
Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Flawless (Satin) As you will see with the swatches above, I also have this in the Lippie Pencil which is an exact match for the lip colour. Flawless is described as a deep red violet and I think that’s pretty spot on. It’s quite a bright purple shade that I think just lights up the face. Love it!
Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in LBB (Matte) Ahhhhh this is my favourite from the bunch, and was funnily enough the one I thought would be least interesting. I think this shade is a good dupe for Rebel by MAC, it’s certainly within that shade family. Kind of a deep raspberry shade with a teeny hint of purple. This one is also a stayer! I can wear this for hours without the need for a touch up. It’s very similar to Flawless but does lean more on the red side.
Colourpop Cosmetics Lippie Stix in Bichette (Matte) Of course I had to add a red to my haul, I decided to go with a darker red shade since we were coming into Winter here I thought i’d get more wear. Plus, I already own so many brighter red shades (I may get one in my next order though). I also got the matching Lippie Pencil with this one because I figured I could use it with some of the reds I already own. Bichette is a stunning deep red and honestly you just need to see it. I wore this out with the Lippie Pencil to my hens night and it didn’t budge!
That’s the haul! Now i’m starting to look at the Colourpop Cosmetics website and making a new wishlist… very dangerous!
Have you ordered from Colourpop before or do you think you may?
Also, if you’re interested I did a video on the haul and showed the Lippie Stix being applied if you wanted to have a look.
Just a quick note before I get into this post, yesterday I decided to not post a Blogmas Day 15 post. As you may or may not know I live in Sydney, Australia and yesterday the entire city/country experienced a terrifying and horrific event that ended tragically early this morning. I felt it wasn’t the right thing to sit on here and do a blog post which in the scheme of things is so meaningless. My thoughts go out to all of those involved and the families and friends who lost a loved one.
Onto the post for today –
I’ve had my eye on the Stila Eyes Are The Window palettes for quite some time, and when Black Friday rolled around BeautyBay had an unmissable sale which ended with me picking up these 2 items for a pineapple ($50 if you’re not in Australia 🙂 ).
I ended up purchasing the Anatasia Brow Wiz in Taupe, which FYI lives up to the hype and then some. I also chose the Soul palette from the Eyes Are The Window range, mainly because it contains my favourite eyeshadow shade of all time “Kitten”. It also has a mix of matte and shimmer shades, where the other palettes looked they were either exclusively matte or shimmer. I’ve never tried Stila’s matte shades so i’ll be keen to see how they perform. Again, I was drawn to the packaging it is absolutely stunning cased in a 2 toned gold and rose gold compact with a huge mirror; it’s one of those compacts you want to get out in front of people because it is so beautiful.
The shades from the top are Light, Individual, Being, Kitten, Affection, Character, Thought, Heart, Peace, Vitality, Substance & Essence.
I haven’t had a chance to do any makeup looks with the palette yet so I can’t really comment on the wear of the shadows but I have used Stila shadows in the past and loved the formula. I noticed when I watched that the shade “Character” is a little sheer and has quite chunky glitter. I also thought “Thought” lol swatched beautifully and can see this as one of those all over the lid, blend out, done shades. I did take a photo of my not great swatches for you as well.
You can pick up the Stila Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette in Soul from Mecca Cosmetica for $68AUD or BeautyBay for $47.40AUD (at time of posting).
Anastasia Brow Wiz retails in Australia for $34.00AUD @ Sephora or again from BeautyBay for $19.50AUD (at time of posting).
Sorry that this Blogmas post is a bit late, yesterday we decided to start our Christmas shopping which basically took the whole day, we also bought a new Xbox which I spent most of the night setting up/playing/watching Netflix. You know how it is 🙂
For this post I thought i’d give a few shoutouts to my favourite YouTubers and a couple of reasons why you should watch/subscribe to them as well. You will notice I watch a lot of British youtubers, no idea why but they just seem to appeal to me.
ViviannaDoesMakeup – Anna is definitely my favourite blogger/youtuber. Her recommendations are always on point and for some reason whenever she wears a bold lip I immediately need the product she’s wearing. I am also hooked on her weekly vlogs! These are for sure a highlight of the week.
Lily Pebbles – I can’t mention Anna without mentioning Lily. Also another one of my must views. I love Lily’s style since it’s a bit more rocker chick and I like she’s not one of those overly bubbly/sickly sweet types. Another one who’s weekly vlogs I also look forward to and the fact she’s currently doing Vlogmas is keeping me entertained daily! This girl has some video editing skills as well, check out this latest one from her, Amazing
FleurDeForce – Another one whose vlogs I really enjoy, her and Mike are adorable in their huge country house with 3 dogs. Talk about jealous!
icovetthee – Alix is absolutely stunning and I have major skin envy everytime I watch her. Her reviews are thorough and she mixes it up with drugstore/high end products. For some reason I also find her voice soothing? Weird lol.
BatalashBeauty – Sam is absolutely stunning and I absolutely adore her looks she does, while they may not be totally what I would wear I still appreciate them. This tutorial really makes me want the Lime Crime Venus Palette…So badly!
Nicole Guerriero – Always a fun one to watch, she does great looks and rocks a bold lip like no other. I’m also loving her shorter hair at the moment!
BeautyBlogged – How could I make a list of Youtube picks without adding my friend Ange 🙂 I’m pretty sure I laugh out loud each time I watch her videos, her honesty about products is refreshing and she’s exactly like she is on her videos in person. Go subscribe now!
This is just a snippet of my favourite youtubers but a chance to maybe check some out that you haven’t before. If you have any recommendations leave them in the comments, or if you even have your own channel and i’ll be sure to check them out.
I’m sure i’ve mentioned before i’m a total magpie when it comes to packaging and the packaging of these items (as well as the price) is what made me throw them into my Priceline basket one day.
Be Essentials is a Priceline exclusive brand, kind of like Models Prefer. The entire range is marked at $3 per item so definitely not bank breaking at all.
Let’s start with the mascara, I wore this in my filming FOTD which I posted earlier this week and for the price it’s quite a good mascara. If you just want something to define the lashes then this is a great option. For me personally, I like bold volumised lashes and this just didn’t quite hit the mark for that. I will continue to use it however and may layer it with other mascaras for a perfect combination.
The eyebrow pencil… not so much of a success. I couldn’t swatch it because it was in the boxed packaging but I picked up the lightest shade there was. If you can see the swatch below this has quite a reddy tone to it and certainly wouldn’t work with my eyebrows. The formula is also creamy which isn’t ideal for eyebrow pencils in my opinion. So final verdict is this one will be going in the bin.
As mentioned earlier you can pick up the Be Essentials range from Priceline for $3 a pop. There is a whole range of goodies including lipsticks, nail polishes, eyeliners etc.
