ulta3glamourshimmerUlta3, if you’re an Aussie and love nails I could pretty much bet on the fact you’ve heard of this little gem of a nail polish brand. Affordable ($2 each!), and pretty widely accessible (pharmacies, supermarkets, target the list goes on). PLUS they release new collections frequently that are on trend!

I was lucky enough to receive the recent “Glitterati” collection and while this was released awhile ago now, I’m pretty sure you will find these polishes still lurking in your local Ulta3 bins.. DIG DEEP GIRLS, DIG DEEP!.

This collection features 11 new shades, above we are focusing on the “shimmers”. Stand outs for me are definitely “xoxo” which I used in a recent Manicure Monday post.. my swatch photo does not give this shade justice at all, it has a fine silver shimmer that you could put over any creme shade to make sparkly! Another shade that my shitty photography didn’t pick up the awesome on is “Triple Threat”BLACK HOLO!  I never thought i’d see a holo in the Ulta3 range and this is all sorts of rainbowey, sparkley goodness. The bluey/green sparkle of “Infamous” also needs to be mentioned, it’s quite unique and extremely pretty. I think you could give “Glamourpuss” a miss from this range, it’s not terribly unique and i’m pretty sure it’s quite similar to another silver in the Ulta3 range.

Of course my favourite thing about this collection is that it features 5 new glitters! Most noteable is the extremely on trend “Stop The Press” featuring black and white glitters…Fancy. I pretty much immediately brushed this onto my digits as soon as it was in my hands, It was also featured in a Manicure Monday recently. I also think “Outasight” is an interesting one to have, it’s a plain black glitter that I could see as being really versatile with so many colours. The other glitters are all pretty but I’d have to say my pick of the bunch here is definitely “A Lister”. I can see myself using all of these shades for glitter gradient mani’s in the future (I love a good glitter gradient!).

manimonday020913Recently I attended the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo (haul video coming soon!). One of the brands I was excited that were going to be there was Color Club and they didn’t disappoint. I do hope they become more readily available for Australian buyers because the polishes are good quality, affordable and on trend.

So I saw the the shade “The Uptown” and it was love… You know the emoji with heart eyes? Yep that was me! The shade is a dark purple jelly base with flakies that show up orange, green and purple depending on where the light hits. I layered two coats over the top of Illamasqua Faux Pas* because i’m not a huge fan of jelly bases on their own.

When I was going to purchase I saw it in a duo pack along with the peachy neon shade “East Austin”. I’m so glad I picked up this duo because not only do they look cool together but this peachy shade is something that I feel will be gracing my fingers and toes throughout summer. I often find these shades are hard to work with my skin tone but this one seems to!

Both of these shades are from the “Girl About Town” Collection from Color Club.

I attended the Sydney International Spa & Beauty Expo with a media pass provided by PR.

manimonday120813This past week Priceline had $3 off all Australis products, bringing their nail polishes down to $4.95 a pop. I picked up these 2 and thought they worked really well together! The green is called “Indie” and is part of the current “Rockstar Collection”. I added a coat of one of the new glitter polishes named “Rio Riot”.

Both applied beautifully, however ignore the smudges… I applied this in a rush to go out the other night and didn’t give myself time for it to completely dry before I left the house.

You can purchase Australis Nail Polishes for $7.95AUD from Priceline, Kmart & Big W.

cgmaxfactorfantasyfireMax Factor Fantasy Fire has been on my collection for quite some time but I’ve never featured it on the blog. I first saw this on other nail blogs and thought it looked pretty amazing, so when I spotted it in my local Big W and for only $5.95 I snapped it up. It’s a very sheer purple with microshimmer that depending on the light can reflect either red/orange or green. I feel it is too sheer to be worn on it’s own and personally would only ever wear it over another colour base.

I actually did swatch photos of this eons ago but never uploaded the post.  I’ll be honest… I don’t love it, the reason for that is I don’t think i’ve found the perfect combination in colour for it to really shine or sparkle as it should. For this combo I used a base of Covergirl Outlast Nail Polish in Vio-Last. I think this combo looks alright together but I still don’t think it’s fantastic.

If you’ve got Max Factor Fantasy Fire what have you paired it with successfully?

Nude polish is a bit of a foreign concept for me, but here I am with another I picked up. The Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant polishes still have my heart and this shade is no exception. This shade “Always Naked” is a gorgeous nude that is fully opaque with 2 coats.

I paired it up with one of the new polishes from the Ulta3 glitterati range, the shade XOXO is a clear base with small iridescent glitters. This was really hard to pick up in the photos! I decided to leave my accent nail bare for a bit of something different.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant polishes retail for a RRP of $6.95AUD and you can pick up Ulta3 for RRP $2.00AUD… A whole mani under a tenner with quality polishes that outlast (lol get it) some of the higher end brands!
