I started this post last year and it’s been sitting in my draft folder for yonks… Finally it’s time to get it out there ūüôā

I’ve reviewed skin products from time to time but this is the stuff i’ve been using on my face for the past few months and that my skin has been responding to well. ¬†FYI my skin is quite dehydrated, red and prone to the occasional breakout (mainly hormonal).

Cleanse¬†– Confession, up until a few months ago I was never a morning cleanse person, it just seemed like too much work and I’d rather the extra few minutes in bed. Now though, i’m a total advocate for the morning cleanse and if I don’t cleanse I don’t feel right. I alternate between the¬†Puretopia Whisk Away Creamy Face Cleanser (RRP $9.99 ¬† AUD) and¬†Alpha H Balancing Cleanser (RRP $42.00AUD). I’m almost out of both of these (empties vid alert!) and I think i’ll be splurging on a full size of the Alpha H Balancing Cleanser¬†(mine is just a sample size). It’s a really nice cleanser that makes my skin feel super clean but never stripped or dry. I also remove my cleanser with a flannel… if I can give you one tip to take from this, remove your cleanser with a flannel! It makes such a difference.

Toner – I remember when I was younger using Witch Hazel to tone my skin and I distinctly remember the sting…yoewch!. ¬†It was totally the wrong product for my skin. I think that scared me off toners a bit and I always imagined them to be stingy and drying – definitely not for someone with dry skin. That’s until I discovered toners come in different types for different skin concerns. I absolutely love the¬†Michael Todd True Organics Blue Green Algae Toner (RRP $18.50USD)¬†It contains Hyaluronic acid (a new ingredient for me this year) and is super moisturising on my skin. This is hard to get in Australia, I got mine from a sale on Ozsale, you can order directly from the Michael Todd True Organics website but personally i’ve never used it so can’t comment how service etc is. Keep an eye out on Ozsale though, I’ve seen it come up a couple of times and bought a backup of this last time it came on the site.

Eyes, Sun & Serums – An important step often forgotten if i’m honest. For my eyes I was recommended this Dermalogica Total Eye Care (RRP $62.00AUD¬†cream for my eyeballs, it contains an SPF and is slightly orange tinted so attempts to hide dark circles (I don’t really have dark circles but it’s so sheer I doubt it would do much). In terms of sunscreen the image above is quite dated now because I’ve been using the La Roche Posay¬†Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Extreme Fluid (RRP $25.99AUD)¬†besides being a hefty SPF 50+, it’s a thin formula that sinks into the skin quickly so you don’t have to mess about waiting to put on your face afterwards. The one pictured is the *Hamilton Everyday Face Daily Defence SPF 30+ (RRP $10.50AUD) I also enjoy this as a face sunscreen, it’s slightly tinted but not enough that it doesn’t match my skin tone, it is a bit thicker then the La Roche Posay offering and has a lower SPF, I will continue to use this maybe in winter when my skin needs a bit more of a drink. Finally, Indeed Labs Hydraluron (RRP $34.99AUD)¬†this is probably my most coveted skincare item of 2013, I remember stalking the shelves of Priceline until I had it in my little hands. If you are experiencing dehydrating – get this! I must admit, since using my Michael Todd Blue Green Algae toner which contains Hyaluronic Acid (basically what Hydraluron is, in a nutshell) I haven’t needed to reach for this as much. On my bad Sahara Desert days though, this is a lifesaver! I’m almost out of my tube and will definitely be buying another of these.

Moisturiser¬†– I’m currently going between 2 moisturisers in the morning. If my skin needs a little more hydration i’ll use the Michael Todd True Organics Citrus Cream Moisturiser (RRP $29.00USD) otherwise it’s been the Sukin Rose Hip Hydrating Day Cream (RRP $23.99AUD) which I feel like i’ve owned forever. I think when these 2 are empty i’ll move onto something new because I don’t totally love either of them, they do the job but they don’t seem to be life changing or anything.

That’s what i’ve been using in the mornings, i’ll be posting my night time routine soon as well and maybe in a few months will do an update if I make any changes. Which is highly likely to be honest!

If you have any recommendations for a hydrating day cream that isn’t tooooooooo expensive, I’d love to hear it! I have my eyes on the Origins Ginzing at the moment.

A few months ago while wandering around my local shopping centre I noticed a big.. “MECCA MAXIMA COMING SOON” sign. First thing I did was tweet about it and then waited patiently for it to open. Finally Mecca Maxima opened in Parramatta Westfield in October (Level 4, next to one of my favourite stores T2 … seriously? just take all my money!)

The store is big, bright, shiny and reminded me of a mini Sephora. The thing I liked best in the store was the mini versions of products – I love minis because you can try something out before committing the cash to a full size that may not work out for you.

So what did I buy?

Soap & Glory The Breakfast Scrub (RRP $18.95AUD) – This stuff smells amazing. I sometimes find myself just sniffing it in the bathroom even when i’m not using it. If you enjoy foodie smells this smells like pancakes and maple syrup and yum. Yep yum is a scent description :). I’ve never been a real fan of body scrubs but this is just lovely the “scrub” part is fine enough that it doesn’t irritate my skin and the smell… Honestly go sniff it if you can!.

Korres Wild Rose Brightening & Line Smoothing Serum (RRP $79.95AUD) – Okay I don’t usually splurge.. I’m very much a get me the cheapest option girl but i’ve been after a skincare option at night that does a little more then plain old Rosehip Oil. I was introduced to this by the sales assistant at Mecca Maxima and i’m really loving it. My skin feels so hydrated after using it. The fact I can also use it around my eyes as a treatment is a winner, i’m the queen of forgetting eye cream (something I can’t afford to do in my 30’s). I’ve been using it at night under plain old Vitamin E cream and then sometimes in the morning if my skin is feeling/looking a little blah and dull.

Soap & Glory Hand Food Mini (RRP $5.95AUD) – CULT PRODUCT! I love this hand cream. I purchased this mini version to leave in my bedroom at my parents new house. I already own a full size of this that sits on my bedside table at home. Smells amazing, dries quickly and is really hydrating. Actually… I think I need another for my desk at work.

Bumble & Bumble Thickening Hairspray Mini (RRP $16.00AUD) – This is ridiculously priced at $44.00 for a full size and it’s been on my wishlist for awhile. I’m currently loving “Big Bouncy Hair” and I purchased this to add into my current routine to see if it gives more oomph to my flat fine hair. I’m really liking the results so far but i’m glad I only bought the small version. I only wash my hair twice a week and don’t really seem to finish off styling products too quickly (unless it’s dry shampoo… I go through tons of that stuff). I think I’ll be doing a hair routine post or video soon explaining how I get the “Big Bouncy Hair” lol.

I also received a goodie bag with a few mini products in it for spending over $60… The contents aren’t really worth mentioning and the deal is now over anyway.

Can you suggest anything I must check out at Mecca Maxima? I have my eye on some of the NARS Christmas things and the Hourglass Lip Lacquers.. they are soooo gorgeous!.

You can buy these products in store or online at

In short.. a big resounding YES! I promptly wrote about this being released on our shores when I saw the news on Instagram; and when I caught wind from around the interwebs that it had been spotted I ensured that I hit up a Priceline that night (and luckily the one I did, had it!).

If you haven’t heard of Hydraluron it’s a serum that contains Hyaluronic Acid which goes beneath the skins surface to hydrate the skin. I think to read up on it properly you should read this post by the skincare queen Caroline Hirons (I know, I know i mention her a lot).

I’ve been using Hydraluron as part of my skincare routine for over a month now. The directions say to use it twice a day and I may possibly amp that up soon but for the moment i’ve just been using it as part of my morning routine. I apply it before my moisturiser and since using it have noticed a huge difference in how my makeup applies when I wear it. Previously I had major dry patches on my nose and cheeks and my foundation would often turn “scaley” (eww) around these areas but using the Hydraluron has helped a lot.

Hydraluron is available to purchase at Priceline for RRP $34.99AUD and comes in a 30ml bottle. I have a feeling this could get the coveted “Holy Grail” status from me… yep I said it!

Have you tried Hydraluron? Was it worth the hype for you?

Usually with any skincare items I like to trial them for an absolute minimum of 2-3 weeks, but since this is a limited edition product I thought i’d do a first impression of it.

Let’s start off by saying Facebook is evil… I first saw this cleanser on there with the promise of a scent like caramel popcorn and I was immediately sold without even knowing what it was. On inspection at my local Lush and a little feel of the product I knew this would be coming home with me. First off I saw the popcorn on the sample/display at the store and thought it was just a prop… Nope it’s in the little jar I took home as well!

Lush Says ”¬†A Maize In, gentle facial wash.¬†We popped corn oil, polenta, maize flour and cinnamon in here.¬† The perfect recipe to gently exfoliate, moisturise¬†and soften your skin for those times when you want to get ready for close-ups.¬†Let The Good Times Roll is a gentle treat for the skin, leaving you soft to the touch with a lingering buttery caramel popcorn fragrance ‚Äď when you look and feel this good you can give your Body Double the day off! “

This really does smell “A Maize In”, I wish they’d make this scent into a shower gel, it’s that good! I found on my skin it really did feel moisturising and slightly warming, it’s the perfect skin treat for a cold winters night. There are some slightly grainy bits in the cleanser which they say are good for exfoliating but they are so scarce they didn’t really do anything for me personally. I can’t comment on how this works for my skin over time as i’ve only used it this one time, if I love it i’m sure it’ll feature in a favourites later down the track. If you love foodie scents and your skin lacks a bit of moisture then this product could be for you.

This one has some ingredients i’ve never really seen in a facial cleanser before –¬†Maize Flour,¬†Glycerine,¬†Talc,¬†Water,¬†Corn Oil,Polenta,¬†Fair Trade Organic Cinnamon Powder,Perfume,¬†Gardenia Extract,¬†Popcorn.¬†Sounds almost good enough to eat!

You can purchase Let The Good Times Roll from all the usual Lush stores for RRP $12.90AUD/100g. It is also available online here!

*Product Disclosure РI purchased this product myself.

I know I know, this is my 2nd kind of announcement type post in the past month and I said I never do them…Oooooops. This is a product i’ve been lusting over and finding incredibly difficult to get hold of so when I got the news it was becoming available in Australia and no less in my favourite store Priceline I had to blog about it.

What is Hydraluron and why am I so frickin excited?

Hydraluron is a product by Canadian brand Indeed Labs, this is what the website says:
Hydraluron is inspired by injectable hydration and plumping treatments employed in Swiss clinics.

Hydraluron uniquely combines the world’s purest hyaluronic acid and a bio-engineered strain of red marine algae causing a controlled increase in blood circulation. This increased circulation optimizes the penetration of the small particles of hyaluronic acid into the key deep layers of the skin and refill spaces formed through the aging process and improve skin structure.

Sounds kind of amazing right? This weather has deemed my skin doomed for the next few months… dry patches like no other and just feeling bleughhhh so i’m hoping this is the boost my skin needs.

I think i’ve mentioned it before but I am utterly obsessed with Caroline Hiron’s blog and reading up on her skincare cheat sheets, well she raved about this product and you can read all about it here.

After stalking the comments on the Priceline Instagram I saw that the product will be retailing for $34.99AUD. I also found out the product will be available from mid June, so keep your peepers out (and tweet me if you see it around Sydney… TA!)

I have a Priceline club voucher that needs to be redeemed and I know what it’ll be going towards!
