One of my favourite types of videos to watch on YouTube is the Anti-Haul, don’t get me wrong I still do love a good haul video but just as much i’m enjoying seeing what people are not going to buy and why they aren’t buying it. My faves are definitely the ones from Kimberly Clark (Clark Clark) please tell me if you watch her you also add on the additional Clarks? lol.

I am actually trying to downsize my collection and be a little more aware of my beauty purchases. I mean do I really need 20 different foundations in my collection? Nope! So the idea of an Anti Haul really speaks to me.

Another good place to check out if like me you are trying to downsize is the MakeUpRehab subreddit – I always go there for inspiration to get rid of stuff, and not buy stuff.

Just a sidenote – this isn’t about bashing brands or products, it’s simply what I’m not going to spend my money on. If you love these products, awesome! I’m just not planning on buying them myself.

Too Faced Natural Love Eye Shadow Collection – RRP $59.00USD (No Australian release or price available as yet) –

Honestly, this is something I would normally be drawn to – a million neutrals! However, I’ve kind of found my groove with the eyeshadows I have right now and this would just be duplicating what I already own. I think Too Faced need to calm down on the releases a little bit, it feels like i’m seeing a new palette release from them every other week. I own the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette and while I like it, it’s nothing groundbreaking. Also, I think if you own a couple of the chocolate bar palettes you’d already own the majority of these shades. I have no idea what this will retail for in Australia but the regular sized chocolate bar palettes retail for around $75 so I see this possibly being around the $100 mark (I could be way off). I’ll be saving my money and not bothering with this one.

Benefit Boxed Blush in Galifornia – RRP $52AUD

Holy shit! I did not realize how expensive these blushes actually were nowadays. I could buy 10 blushes from Essence for this price and probably find an exact dupe. Sure, the packaging is cute and i’m sure the scent is lovely but you do not need to spend $52 on a single blush. Nope. This is a pretty generic coral pink shade and really isn’t different enough to warrant that price tag in my opinion. Temptalia has listed a pretty decent sized list of dupes so might be worth checking those out.

Australis Liquid Elixir Serum Foundation – RRP $24.95AUD

I was actually really looking forward to this product when I first saw it sneak peeked on Instagram. I saw it on stand during the Priceline sale and decided to have a play with it, if you are after a pretty invisible coverage foundation then this is perfect for you. It literally disappeared on my hand and offered no coverage, so I put it down and walked away. Such a shame because I thought this formula would be awesome for my dry skin. I’ve never had much luck with Australis foundations to be honest, however a lot of their other products really kick ass.

Crayola for Clinique Chubby Stick – RRP $36AUD (I think)

Ugh… This is really a personal preference thing but I just find this packaging really really tacky. I get the reason why they did it, I mean they kind of already look like Crayola crayons but I just don’t know if it’s really targetting the right market. I’m not really a fan of the Clinique Chubby Sticks anyway, but I just wanted to mention this one because of the packaging.

Hope you enjoyed this Anti-Haul! What are you NOT buying?

AustralisVelourlipsOh-SakaProduct

Recently Australis added to their popular Velourlips range with 4 new shades.

I knew from the sneak peeks that Oh-Saka! which is described as a dusty rose would be coming home with me.

If you haven’t tried out the Australis Velourlips formula, I suggest you give it a go. The formula is quite moussey similar to the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams but I find they last a little longer on the lips, just try and keep the application light, so it doesn’t crumble. At only $10.49AUD a pop they are one of the better and cheaper liquid lipstick formulas on the market and also one of the most readily available. Plus they smell like blackcurrant lollies… yummmm

australisvelourlips-swatch-oh-saka

When I first swatched this I thought it was quite similar to a few other liquid lipsticks I own, I thought i’d do a bit of comparison showing it with Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny and Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita.

As you can see above, this isn’t really a dupe for either of those shades but they are in a similar shade range. Oh-Saka! is definitely much more rosey than the other 2. I’m kind of glad it makes me justify the purchase more! lol!

I did look at it a bit further though and also have compared it with Colourpop Lippie Stix in Lumiere, which i’ve shown below. This is definitely a closer match shade wise; with Oh-Saka! being just that bit deeper and again more rosey. Lumiere being a lipstick formula (even though it is a matte) is a also little more hydrating. However, Colourpop shipping to Australia is RIDICULOUS! So if you’ve had your eye on Lumiere this is a great and cheap alternative.

Have you tried the Australis Velourlips? Is there another shade I must own? (help me buy the things!).

Wow I actually filmed a video, no I filmed and edited a video! I filmed this one on Saturday and had so many issues with imovie (I HATE the new version… grrrrr). It was meant to go up Sunday but better late than never right 🙂

This is a chatty style get ready with me video, you won’t learn anything new but you’ll see some products being applied and me talking about my trip to the Supermarket… interesting 😛

Long time no post, let’s just start with the fact that I failed Blogmas… I made it with a week to go and then the whole Christmas spirit took over and I became extremely busy. I did really learn to think about content and stick to a schedule when I was doing that and I really want to try and do that this year, I’m pretty sure I say that every year in January but all I can do is try.

How was everyone’s Christmas? Mine was pretty quiet and relaxing which was nice. I spent the day with my parents and all our dogs sitting on the verandah of their home in the Blue Mountains just eating and colouring in (current thing I’m into). We then had a bigger Boxing Day with family coming over for dinner; I ended up sick with a stomach virus which sucked but meant I had a mega Gossip Girl marathon in bed.

New Years Eve was fun, we are totally into the whole low key NYE. We just spent some time with friends seeing the 9pm fireworks in Parramatta then heading home to see the NY in on telly.

Now i’m back at work, doing the stuff you tend to do in January (archiving, filing, tidying… getting papercuts from all of these jobs).

The most exciting news of all is that we have decided to delay our honeymoon a bit, we were planning on heading to the US around August this year. We have now decided to wait a little longer and spend NYE in NYC! (I am soooooo excited!). Yes I said before I’m into low key NYE’s but this is an exception :). So far the plan is NY, Washington DC, Chicago, San Francisco, LA, San Diego, Vegas… woah that’s a lot when I write it down! Shane and I are daily sending each other something new we want to see in one of the cities we are visiting, and I found out the other day that our LA leg could be worked into around the same time as IMATS LA…Holy shit! I’ll say it again, I’m so excited!

So that’s my update, we are hopefully back to normal programming around these parts. I do have some YouTube videos I need to film but i’m waiting for it not to be a million degrees (the lights I use are so hot and I look like a sweaty disco ball on hot days).

I saw this Christmas Tag on Emma’s blog (go check it out btw, it’s one of my faves!) and thought this is perfect for todays post. Tonight is my last night at Trivia for the year…booooooo 🙁 and I didn’t want to have to worry about getting home to get photos done, edited and a blog post written before getting into a bit of cider drinking, schnitty eating fun at trivia tonight.

Feel free to do this tag as well, on your blog or in the comments! Let’s get festive!

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?

Without a doubt it’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, I watch this every year without fail before Christmas Day, generally on Christmas Eve when I go to bed or while wrapping presents.

2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Christmas morning. I always have to wait for my dad to get up and have his coffee before we open presents, I don’t mind this so much now but when I was a kid it was agony lol.

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?

Every year putting out some carrots for the Reindeer and a Beer and some biscuits for Santa. It was always exciting waking up in the morning to find the crumbs 🙂

4. Favourite festive food?

Everything! Christmas Ham is always amazing, even though you get tired of having Ham on everything 3 days later. Also, my great grandmothers recipe for Chocolate Rum Balls is the absolute best and I devour approximately 46 of these every year.

Not ours, but the idea 🙂 – Soure Pinterest

5. Favourite Christmas gift?

I would say it was my Macbook Pro a few years ago, still going strong to this day and I pretty much squealed when I opened it. That was also a memorable Christmas because I had to go to Emergency at the hospital because I had one of those two finger rings stuck on my fingers and it had to be removed…not a great morning.

6. Favourite Christmas scent?

Gingerbread, Cinnamon, Spiced Orange – anything spicy and warm (even though I live in a summer climate this time of year).

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

Every Christmas Eve we have a get together with my dads side of the family, being Italian’s it is huge! We generally have a lot of food and very full bellys afterwards. We used to wait until midnight to open the presents but now we tend to do it a bit earlier since people have a fair way to travel. It’s a great time to catch up with everyone 🙂
8. What tops your tree?

A generic star I picked up from Target, I posted a blog post with my Christmas Decorations earlier this month and as I mentioned in there we only have a small LED tree. One day when we have more space I’ll be able to think of something cool. One of my friends told me about this awesome Groot tree topper, I would love that!

9. As a kid, what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

I don’t actually remember asking for anything like that, I will have to ask my mum.
10. What’s the best part about Christmas for you?

I love Christmas, the festive feeling when you see decorations about, Starbucks Christmas Drinks, Picking my present wrapping theme for the year… and wrapping presents, Christmas songs (check out my blog post about what i’m listening to here). So many things!
