Lately, I’ve been keeping my daily makeup in a small storage box that I take into the bathroom with me every morning to apply, I try to change these products up every week or so but there are some that have stayed in the entire month. I’m finding this is a good way to test out products and also a much quicker way for me to get ready in the mornings since I only have a small selection to choose from. I’ve picked my favourite 5 from last month from that stash.
L’oreal Paris Brow Artist Plumper in Blonde – RRP $18.95AUD – I feel like i’ve talked about this product a lot over on my YouTube channel but it hasn’t gotten as much love over here, basically it’s amazing. I use this on the daily, with a pencil on weekends or nights out when I have a bit more time or just brushed through my brows during the week to make them stay in place and look a little fuller. I’ve tried quite a few of these new brow gel/mascara/oomph products of late and this is by far my favourite (followed closely by Benefit Gimme Brow). While it’s a little on the pricey side for a drugstore product, there are always sales and I suggest you pick this one up on the next one.
L’oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick in 640 Erotique – RRP $21.95AUD – This was one of those on a whim purchases, I was actually after a different lipstick by Chi Chi at the recent 20% (or was it 30% off) at Target and couldn’t find it. P.S. Is anyone else’s local Target cosmetic section an absolute shit hole? Mine is the worst! Anyway, I was browsing around the other stands and saw a fresh range of these lipsticks in a bunch of new colours and formulations. Of course I went straight for the mattes and picked this bad boy up… It is in a word PERFECTION! Such a great deep rosy nude shade that can be worn every single damn day (which it has). I’ve never tried a L’Oreal lipstick before and this has me wanting to go back to try more, the formula is so creamy for a matte lipstick and it feels comfortable on the lips. That shade though (heart eyed emojis). The scent might not be to everyones taste/or smell but I don’t mind it and it doesn’t stick around that long anyway.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Masacara in Blackest Black – RRP $21.95AUD – I’ve noticed a lot of bloggers raving about this mascara, and rightly so! People have said that it’s a good dupe for Benefits Roller Lash, I don’t have that so I can’t compare. What I can say though is that it is a solid mascara and does the job of defining, lengthening and creating volume in my lashes. The brush is also kind of unique and gets those outer corner lashes fluttering like nothing else. This is the first masacara that has actually wow’d me in quite awhile.
Chi Chi Cosmetics Lip Liner in Fly Girl – RRP $9.95AUD – I have so much love for the Chi Chi Cosmetics Viva La Diva lipsticks so I decided to pick up a lip liner to try out. I’m not usually a lip liner kind of girl but this has certainly converted me, the colour is a deep dusty pink which looks great on it’s own or layered with a lippy on top (With that L’Oreal Erotique shade especially). The formula is one of the creamiest I have ever tried with a lip liner which can be a good thing or a bad thing, bad in the sense I feel like it may run out very very soon. Oh well I’ll just need to go buy a backup.
Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in Hot Chocolate – RRP $3.05AUD – Not a typo, that is the price and it is worth much much more than that. Such a rich and pigmented eyeliner that goes on almost gel like. I like wearing this pressed down quite close to my top lash line to give the bottom of my lashes more volume and not be so KAPOW like a black liner can be. It also looks great with any neutral eye look smudged on the lash line. I’ve also picked up another shade recently in Hot Scorch which will likely be featured here soon.
Here are some swatches of a few products – Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in Hot Chocolate, Chi Chi Cosmetics Lip Liner in Fly Girl & L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipstick in 602 Erotique.
I own countless neutral eyeshadow palettes and honestly did not need to add anymore to my collection, however when I saw these posted on Instagram I suddenly became obsessed with trying to track them down and buy them. Instagram can be an evil enabler at times.
I’d never tried any of the Chi Chi Glamorous Eye Palettes and I’ve seen some great reviews on them. They have a bunch of different types ranging from brights to neutrals and in between so there is really something for everyone. I’ve always found myself at Target swatching them but never actually buying one (or two) until now.
The palettes do live up to the hype, the majority of the shades are super pigmented, easy to blend and wear really well (with an eyeshadow primer, I haven’t tried them without one because eyeshadow primer is my security blanket). There are a few shades that are duds but for $22.95AUD a piece for 12 shades you can’t expect them all to be winners.
Also, in all honesty you don’t really need both of these palettes as I think some of the shades are doubled up. I think this is throughout the Chi Chi range as well so if you already own some of their palettes just compare and make sure you don’t already have the majority of the shades.
I clearly need spell check on my graphics editing products as well… Oops!
Chi Chi Glamorous Eyes Palette in Mochas feature a mix of finishes from matte to shimmery, the shades lean more towards the warm side with a few almost burgandy shades. I got this because those colours tend to look great on blue eyes. So fellow blue eyed folk this is the one you want to look at. My main gripe with this palette is that there isn’t a mid toned shimmery brown shade they are either highlight shades or quite dark shades which makes it hard to pick a good daytime colour (unless you go for the matte shades). The 6th colour along (the rusty shade) is definitely my favourite and I have been wearing that a lot at night over the lid with a medium matte brown blended into the crease.
Chi Chi Glamorous Eyes Palette in Mattes 2 as the name suggests this is the 2nd offering of a matte palette by Chi Chi. I have seen and swatched the first but it just didn’t pull me in like this one has. As you can see one side features 6 warm toned neutral matte shades and the other features 6 cool toned neutral matte shades. HALLELUJAH! I have been after something like this for ages, and have contemplated buying both Naked Basics to get the same thing. This is the perfect palette to compliment other shadows as well, particularly if you are looking for a transition shade from a shimmery shadow. I have gotten a lot of use already out of this palette and it’s fast becoming my daytime go-to palette. I’ve found all the shades that i’ve used so far easy to blend. Some of them look a bit patchy in my swatches about but with a brush they blend out nicely.
I highly recommend this palette to everyone… seriously.
As mentioned above these palettes retail for $22.95AUD and you can purchase them from Target or Myer. Don’t be like me though and pay full price, wait for a sale.
Red Lipstick is one of my favourite makeup items to wear, so here I have condensed it down to my top 5 picks. You’ll notice a theme running through my picks that they are all matte, but I personally think red lipstick suits the matte formula more. There are some at the lower end price point and some at the higher so hopefully something for everyone.
Boy, it was hard but I think I managed to pick a good bunch. Have a watch of my video below & subscribe if you’d like to see more!
This is my current go-to lip look for a night out. Not only is it super bright but it’s super long lasting and feels comfortable on the lips.
I started off with a lipliner…shocker! This is Models Prefer Infinite Colour Lip Liner in Forever Pink (RRP $7.99AUD) I never ever use lip liners, but I picked this up in a sale at Priceline and was so impressed with how creamy and pigmented it was. You could easily use this on it’s own as a lip colour; the colour is so bright and gorgeous.
I then topped it with a coat of Chi Chi Viva La Diva Lipstick in Glamazon (RRP &18.95AUD). I don’t think i’ve ever talked about these lipsticks on my blog before but lets start with how gorgeous the packaging is… something you would be proud to display on your dressing table, no?. I have only ever bought matte shades from this range and let me tell you, these are one of the best matte formulas in lipsticks i’ve ever tried. Never drying and long lasting, not to mention the range has most amazing colour selection!
This shade is the newest to my collection and is a super bright “Barbie” pink, perfect on its own but even better over top of the lip liner.
I adore this combo, and both of these products separately. Winner!
