Top 5 Red Lipsticks YouTube Video

Red Lipstick is one of my favourite makeup items to wear, so here I have condensed it down to my top 5 picks. You’ll notice a theme running through my picks that they are all matte, but I personally think red lipstick suits the matte formula more. There are some at the lower end price point and some at the higher so hopefully something for everyone.

Boy, it was hard but I think I managed to pick a good bunch. Have a watch of my video below & subscribe if you’d like to see more!

If you live in Australia you’d know the amount we pay for MAC makeup is ridiculous, especially considering how much cheaper it is in the States. I decided to do this little haul as a birthday present to myself (or from my dogs, which is how I justified it).

I used a mail forwarding company called Ship It To and they were fantastic! You don’t actually pay them any fee’s (I think they may be included in the shipping price though). They have multiple US addresses you can ship your products to, and they give you a huge range of shipping options once your package reaches the warehouse and they all vary in price.

The process was so smooth and easy that i’ll definitely be using them in the future with my other purchases, they also provide an assisted shopping service as well for stores that don’t accept Australian payments (cough cough Sephora).

Now to get to the MAC online store, even if you put it will default to the .au Australian store, when it does this just delete the .au and you’ll be in the US site. As for payment options I actually used my PayPal account and added in the US address given to me by Shipito so I had no issues with them not accepting my payment.  Also it’s free shipping from MAC to the US address so you don’t need to worry about that as an additional cost.

My goodies!

I picked up a 15 pan palette & insert, 5 eyeshadows from top – Satin Taupe, All That Glitters, Patina, Soft Brown, Wedge, 3 lipsticks – Rebel, Patisserie, Impassioned (finally!!). I also received a free mini sample of the Zoom Lash Mascara.

The Savings… I’m sure this is the bit you’re most interested to hear about right? This is a breakdown of the cost in US dollars along with a conversion, and the Australian prices.

MAC Pro Palette Large$8.00$30.00
MAC Pro Palette Eyeshadow x 15 Insert $2.00$15.00
MAC Eyeshadow Pro Palette Refill Pan - All That Glitters$10.00$26.00
MAC Eyeshadow Pro Palette Refill Pan - Soft Brown$10.00$26.00
MAC Eyeshadow Pro Palette Refill Pan - Patina
MAC Eyeshadow Pro Palette Refill Pan - Wedge$10.00$26.00
MAC Eyeshadow Pro Palette Refill Pan - Satin Taupe$10.00$26.00
MAC Lipstick - Patisserie$16.00$36.00
MAC Lipstick - Rebel$16.00$36.00
MAC Lipstick - Impassioned$16.00$36.00
Shipping to Australia via Shipito$38.83FREE
CONVERSION TO $AUD$181.48AUD (approx)$309.00AUD

That’s a whopping total savings of $127.52!

Keep in mind $ conversions etc are at the time of me writing this post and may change at any time. However, i’m sure you can see the benefit.

I’m sure i’ll still visit the MAC counters here to swatch goodies and occasionally buy the one off product but I think seeing how great the savings are ordering from the US it’s how i’ll be doing my shopping from now on.

I also did a quick video on YouTube showing my haul if you’d like to have a squizz at that as well.

I love a good dupe, particularly when the said dupe is a fraction of the cost of the original. I originally saw Essence Blush Up! in Heatwave (RRP $6.45AUD) on Emma’s blog and immediately thought of my now very unavailable limited edition MAC blush in Ripe Peach which is easily one of my favourite shades in my collection – it’s frickin huge and I doubt i’ll ever finish it but it’s still nice to find something comparable.

As you can see in my swatches below, they are similar but not similar enough to throw into the dupe pile. With the MAC version leaning more pink and the Essence leaning more orange. However, I’m still glad I picked up the Essence blush because the colour is gorge’ and it’s super pigmented.

I also did a post on the MAC Ripe Peach blush yonks ago on my blog, excuse the shit photos & invisible swatches – thankfully I am a bit better at that stuff now!

Just a quick one today – End of financial year is kicking my ass at work and I needed a breather, so a quickie blog post it was. Hope you’re having a good week and if you’re in finance or something similar – my thoughts go out to you! 🙂

Both products were purchased by me

This past weekend I celebrated my birthday (woo!) and a tradition that I started a few years ago was buying myself a new MAC lipstick to wear on my birthday. I think this started when I was in a MAC love phase but now I find the cheaper brands just as good, if not better. However, I’ve still kept the tradition going though because it’s something I can look forward to planning for on the lead up to my birthday.

So when I perused my local MAC on Saturday I saw they had a tester of Impassioned (This has been on my wishlist FOREVER and I can never find it!). Anyway I asked for it, they searched and it was out of stock (boo 🙁 ). Without hesitation I asked if they had Ruby Woo, it has also been on my wish list and the fact it’s a matte shade (and I’m loving matte’s at the moment) it was always going to be my 2nd choice.

I get home with my new purchase and get ready to go out for the night, upon first swipe I knew this is the perfect red for me and a shade I think could possibly even become my “signature” shade (big call!). It was love. The formula is amazing, it’s a non drying matte. The staying power trumps and the colour is just beautiful.  I can’t say enough good things!

This was uploaded to YouTube awhile ago but I thought i’d also do a little matching blog post as well! Here are the things I was loving in January –

Nature’s Way Multi-Vitamin – VitaGummies – RRP $22.95AUD
I hate swallowing tablets and have you seen the size of regular multi vitamins? Nah Uh! These are like a little treat twice a day and are beneficial for you. I’ll be honest the after taste is freakin rancid but I can deal.
MAC Creme Blush (Now known as Cremeblend) – Ladyblush – RRP $41.00AUD
This is an old favourite of mine and the old formula. I haven’t tried the new ones to see if they are any different but I love this! However for a cheaper option check out the NYX Cream Blushes, for the price they are amaaaaaze.
Australis Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder – Natural – RRP $11.40AUD
Go buy this now! This stuff is an absolute bargain and gives the most natural finish. It also has a little coverage so I find it nice over my tinted moisturisers/BB creams I wear on weekends. It also photographs well (must for any beauty blogger). This has been likened as a dupe for the MAC Studio Fix powder, I used to use MAC Mineralize Skin Finish and thought that was the but this baby is my new holy grail.
OPI Nail Lacquer – Samoan Sand – RRP $19.95AUD
I never thought i’d be into nude polishes, but after Chelle recommend this to me I feel I might sway towards more nudes. Looks amazing on my pale skin and is such a nice base for gradient nails/nail features etc.
Urban Decay Naked 2 – Tease – Unavailable in Australia but you can purchase from
I don’t really need to say much because most people own this palette. I’m loving Tease at the moment in my crease, it’s such a gorgeous taupe that leans towards purple and brings out my blue eyes.
Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids – RRP $16.95AUD
You might want to check out my review and then go and try these. Since then I’ve also managed to pick up another 2 colours (hooked!). I’ll post swatches etc on here soon because I know these are going to be popular lippies, I want them all!!
Too Faced Foil Liner – Black Beauty – (I don’t think this is available in Australia anymore 🙁 )
This is my go-to waterline liner, it stays put and is a very black black. I’ve been lining my upper waterline and the difference it makes to my eyes is amazing. I do want to try the Urban Decay liner in Perversion so once this one goes to the beauty box in the sky i’ll try that next.
Face of Australia Face Base Primer – RRP $11.95AUD
I’ve been getting into primers again of late and have found this really moisturises my dry skin and helps my foundation glide on smoothly. This is always a staple in my makeup collection and I think will be forever (unless they change the formula and it’s shit).
Royal & Langnickel Green Line Powder Brush*
I only recently cracked open my set of green line brushes from ABBW… yeah over a year later! I can’t wait to try the others because this powder brush is perfection. I use it to apply my Fresh & Flawless powder.
Also feel free to check out my video below for a visual of me talking about the same thing!
Hope you’ve enjoyed my January favourites, I’m really going to try and do these monthly as I am a fan of reading/watching them myself.
What did you love last month? Anything I should try for February? (even though it’s halfway over!)
