five current favourites

I have so many new things i’m loving at the moment and I feel like since I’ve been working on downsizing my stash that a few oldie but goodie gems are sure to make an appearance in a favourites post soon.

Here are five of the best at the moment!

1. Dettol Profresh Peach Burst Shower Gel RRP $6.49AUD – Shower gels are something i’m never loyal with and just throw in whatever scent i’m feeling (or is on special) when I’m doing the weekly shop. This shower gel however has been thrown into the trolley twice in a row (unheard of). This is such a fresh peach scent that stays on the skin. It does as it says and cleans well, but the scent (drooooooooool).

2. Models Prefer Soft Touch Mineral Powder in Soft Focus RRP $16.99AUD – I’ve raved about this powder ever since I first got it. I’ve used this everyday since I purchased it and I’ve finally hit pan! I don’t own the Hourlgass Ambient Lighting Powders but this is meant to be a good dupe; for me it’s just a great light finishing powder that adds a bit of extra glow to my pretty dull/dehydrated complexion. I never find that this makes me look cakey and in saying that i’m not sure it’d be enough of a finishing powder for those with oilier skin types. However I love it and will definitely be buying another when this baby runs out.

3. L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush RRP $19.95AUD – Okay so firstly let me apologize because this shade is not available in Australia, I picked it up on my trip to the US earlier this year. Why it isn’t available here I don’t know because it’s seriously stunning! This is a copper shade that is so metallic it almost looks wet on the eye. I’ve been wearing it with a warm matte brown shade buffed into the crease, this on the lid, a bit of brown pencil liner smudged into my lashes, mascara and done! If you can get your hands on this particular shade and you like warm coppery colours, do it!

4. Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed RRP $36AUD – This shade has been on my wishlist for the longest time, I remember seeing Emma talk about it on her blog quite a few times and since then it’s been a must buy. It’s a dusty rose shade that really works with any eye/lip combo you have going, it’s the no-brainer shade. A little pricey for a blush but a little goes a long way with these.

5. Essence I love Nude Eyeshadow in Sweet Like Chocolate RRP $5.10AUD – This is such a pretty warm shade (can you see a trend here?) it has a slight shimmer to it, but it’s very very slight. I’ve been using this in my crease for the look I mentioned above.

models prefer rose nude palette

Wow, so it’s been so long since I’ve actually written a blog post. I’ve had these photos sitting in my draft section for way too long and thought it was about time to get the post up. I’m a bit rusty so bear with me lol.

The Models Prefer Rose Nudes Palette has been out for awhile now and retails at $12.99AUD and is only available from Priceline (FYI Models Prefer is a Priceline exclusive brand). They have a couple of other palettes out in this range a Black (I guess for smokey looks) and the original Nude (which I also own, and is shown below next to the new Rose Palette). I get a fair bit of use out of both of the versions I own, they are easy shadows to use for my everyday makeup and the size of the palette which is smaller then my iPhone is so easy to travel with. They stayed during my recent Makeup Palette cull! (video coming soon).

This palette is a bit of a take on the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette with some of the shades coming in as close dupes. I have previously swatched and reviewed the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette as well.

Also random addition of the Models Prefer Paw Paw ointment in Peach because I bought this on the same day and thought it looked good next to the palette, this is also an awesome product and the Peach smell is delicious.

As you can see and as the name suggests the shades here lead more rosey and warm (funny that!) then the previous Nude palette. There is a mixture of matte, shimmer formulas and a shade that is almost like a pressed pigment which is the 4th shade from the top, a stunning copper (my personal favourite and most worn tbh). My gripe with this palette is the first 4 shades, I think so many light shades is unnecessary and would have preferred (HA HA) a more mid toned brown matte shade to use as a transition or crease colour. The lighter matte shades are also a little bit chalky and really need to be blended in, I generally just use these as a base for my makeup so you don’t really see them anyway. The rest are fantastic shades, the only other one I haven’t dipped my brush into is the darkest shade which is almost a black with small purple shimmers, it’s just not my thing.

Onto some swatches… Sorry these did have names but I lost the little insert thing.

In comparison with the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, some of the shades are pretty close to duping the palette but the formula just isn’t as good. However, if you are on a budget or just want a couple of shades from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and they are duped in this palette, maybe check this one out.

Here I have swatched Buzz, Trick, Nooner & Blackheart from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and the corresponding shades from the Models Prefer Nude Rose Palette (the MP shades are the first of the shades swatched).

As mentioned previously the Models Prefer Nude Rose Palette retails for $12.99AUD and can be purchased from the mothership…aka Priceline 🙂

Contouring, Strobing, Kim K’ing… It’s the makeup “thing” people are doing. Most brands have gotten on board and bought out their own versions of the Contour Kits. Providing you a few shades of highlight and contour shades to get your face looking slimmer, highlighted and Instagrammable.

2 of my favourite budget brands have bought out their own versions and of course I’ve snapped up both of them. I remember the hype surrounding the Australis AC On Tour (get it… A Contour… lol) kit when it first hit the shelves, it was an instant sell-out and finding it was like finding gold at the end of a rainbow. Eventually I managed to get my hands on one in the 2nd round of restocks :). Recently Models Prefer have bought out their version, with mirror (yes it’s bolded on the front of the packaging) again, I needed this even though I had the Australis version.

A week after I filmed this, Australis repackaged the original version of the kit with 2 new shades medium & dark (and added a mirror). The one I’ve got is still available but it is now the Light shade of the kits.

In my video I compare them and do swatch comparisons of the shades, yes they are actually different and let you know which one I like the best. Feel free to Subscribe, Like all that good stuff 🙂

I would love to know if you’ve tried these and if you have a preference?

Both of these kits are available at Priceline and are priced at $16.95AUD

Last week Priceline held their 40% off makeup sale and I hauled. This time around I decided to get onboard and order my small stash online, thankfully I don’t work near a Priceline so it was impossible for me to get to a store… I’d imagine my haul would be triple the size if I got to actually swatch everything. Here’s what I picked up –

Savvy Perfect Pout Lipstick Kit RRP $10.00AUD (Sale Price $6.00AUD)

I’m thinking of doing a swatch fest with these on the weekend, I had a little play with them swatching them on my hand and there are some really cool and on trend colours in this 10 piece set. I’m a bit iffy on the formula but i’ll give them a try. Such a great present for someone who is getting into makeup and not sure about what lipstick shades to wear or are scared to try a bold lip. This set covers all bases!

Savvy Mineral Baked Eyeshadow in Ocean Water RRP $8.99AUD (Sale Price $2.69)

I don’t know what went through my mind when I added this to my cart, I honestly think the picture next to the shade name was a neutral… This is so not me. Luckily it was cheap because I sure regret this one.

Australis AC/ME Metallic Finish Eyeshadow in Bronzonce RRP $7.95AUD (Sale Price $4.77)

I wanted to pick this up the first time I swatched it, not sure why I didn’t but when I went back it was sold out. The formula is a cream consistancy and it is such a gorgeous rose gold bronzey colour, I can’t wait to get this on my lids. It’s suuuuuuper glittery though so might just be a night time option…. or not.

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation in Shade W3 RRP $33.95AUD (Sale Price $20.37)

I’ve had this foundation on my radar for quite some time and after loving the True Match foundation but finding it not always the best fit for my dehydrated skin I thought it was time to finally try the more hydrating, glowy formula of the Lumi Magique. When I opened this the other day and saw the colour I thought it was going to be way to dark. Turns out it’s perfect! I have a bit more colour at the moment so maybe in the wintertime i’ll need to revisit my shade but so far so good. I’m liking this foundation and will definitely continue to use it.

Models Prefer Tri Precision Lash Liner RRP $12.99AUD (Sale Price $7.79)

I’ve never seen this in store and was keen to try it because it’s something very different. I’ve seen versions of this type of eyeliner with the 3 pronged tip to dot between the lashes. I haven’t had a play with this yet but if you’d like a review let me know.

While I was writing this and referring back to my original order email to get the sale prices I paid I realised that one of the products I ordered didn’t arrive. I also ordered the Models Prefer Finale Finishing Spray but it wasn’t in my package. I’ll be emailing Priceline to follow this up and hopefully they can post it out to me soon (I’ve been looking forward to trying that).

Thanks for reading if you made it this far and let me know what you picked up in the sale if you got anything. I’d love to know!

This is my current go-to lip look for a night out. Not only is it super bright but it’s super long lasting and feels comfortable on the lips.

I started off with a lipliner…shocker! This is Models Prefer Infinite Colour Lip Liner in Forever Pink  (RRP $7.99AUD) I never ever use lip liners, but I picked this up in a sale at Priceline and was so impressed with how creamy and pigmented it was. You could easily use this on it’s own as a lip colour; the colour is so bright and gorgeous.

I then topped it with a coat of Chi Chi Viva La Diva Lipstick in Glamazon (RRP &18.95AUD). I don’t think i’ve ever talked about these lipsticks on my blog before but lets start with how gorgeous the packaging is… something you would be proud to display on your dressing table, no?. I have only ever bought matte shades from this range and let me tell you, these are one of the best matte formulas in lipsticks i’ve ever tried. Never drying and long lasting, not to mention the range has most amazing colour selection!

This shade is the newest to my collection and is a super bright “Barbie” pink, perfect on its own but even better over top of the lip liner.

I adore this combo, and both of these products separately. Winner!
