models prefer rose nude palette

Wow, so it’s been so long since I’ve actually written a blog post. I’ve had these photos sitting in my draft section for way too long and thought it was about time to get the post up. I’m a bit rusty so bear with me lol.

The Models Prefer Rose Nudes Palette has been out for awhile now and retails at $12.99AUD and is only available from Priceline (FYI Models Prefer is a Priceline exclusive brand). They have a couple of other palettes out in this range a Black (I guess for smokey looks) and the original Nude (which I also own, and is shown below next to the new Rose Palette). I get a fair bit of use out of both of the versions I own, they are easy shadows to use for my everyday makeup and the size of the palette which is smaller then my iPhone is so easy to travel with. They stayed during my recent Makeup Palette cull! (video coming soon).

This palette is a bit of a take on the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette with some of the shades coming in as close dupes. I have previously swatched and reviewed the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette as well.

Also random addition of the Models Prefer Paw Paw ointment in Peach because I bought this on the same day and thought it looked good next to the palette, this is also an awesome product and the Peach smell is delicious.

As you can see and as the name suggests the shades here lead more rosey and warm (funny that!) then the previous Nude palette. There is a mixture of matte, shimmer formulas and a shade that is almost like a pressed pigment which is the 4th shade from the top, a stunning copper (my personal favourite and most worn tbh). My gripe with this palette is the first 4 shades, I think so many light shades is unnecessary and would have preferred (HA HA) a more mid toned brown matte shade to use as a transition or crease colour. The lighter matte shades are also a little bit chalky and really need to be blended in, I generally just use these as a base for my makeup so you don’t really see them anyway. The rest are fantastic shades, the only other one I haven’t dipped my brush into is the darkest shade which is almost a black with small purple shimmers, it’s just not my thing.

Onto some swatches… Sorry these did have names but I lost the little insert thing.

In comparison with the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette, some of the shades are pretty close to duping the palette but the formula just isn’t as good. However, if you are on a budget or just want a couple of shades from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and they are duped in this palette, maybe check this one out.

Here I have swatched Buzz, Trick, Nooner & Blackheart from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and the corresponding shades from the Models Prefer Nude Rose Palette (the MP shades are the first of the shades swatched).

As mentioned previously the Models Prefer Nude Rose Palette retails for $12.99AUD and can be purchased from the mothership…aka Priceline 🙂

Sephora Christmas Wishlist

If I could pick my favourite makeup release it would be this time of year, it’s when the Christmas gift sets start appearing and I suddenly want to dip my hands in and try out some new stuff. I find some of the gift sets to be a rip off, but there are some little gems to be found (usually for me these come in the form of anything Stila, which I sadly didn’t spy on the Sephora website).

So for something a little different I thought i’d give you my top 5 picks that I’ve just spotted on the Sephora website, and with the first store opening in Sydney merely months away (eeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!) you can be sure if these are instore I’ll be likely picking up a couple for presents… for myself :). One thing isn’t really an exclusive Christmas set but I thought i’d add it because I kinda really want it and maybe one of my dear loved ones will read this :P.

Tarte Bon Voyage Collectors Set And Travel Bag RRP $59.00USD (around $67.00AUD) – I’ll be honest, I only really want this for the palette. Look at that stunning neutral goodness! I’ve never tried Tarte eyeshadows before but if they are anything like the blushes then this would be an absolute winner in my eyes. Besides that gorgeous 20 shade eyeshadow palette the kit contains; deluxe light camera flashes mascara, Ltd Edition deluxe cheek stain in Muse, Lipsurgence Lipgloss in Visionary, Lipsurgence Lip Tint in Romance, Deluxe Marajuca Oil (actually really want to try this too!), Deluxe Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder.

Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 RRP $29.00USD (around $33.00AUD) – I’m not 100% sure that it has been revealed if UD will be stocked in the Sephora Sydney store or if its one of the ones to be rolled out later. Doesn’t really matter though because I can find online stockists to pick up my UD in the meantime. This isn’t a Christmas set but I thought i’d add it because it’s new and it’s perfect. I don’t actually own Basics 1 but for some reason the 2nd version sings more to me.

Too Faced Melted Kisses RRP $25.00USD (around $28AUD) – I think out of all of these products this is the one I am most likely to add to my collection. I’ve been wanting to try out these lipsticks for awhile now and what better way with 4 mini versions. I really like all the shades in this set too. You get Melted Nude, Melted Peony, Melted Fuchsia & Melted Berry. The only one i’m iffy about is Melted Nude but that’s mainly because I haven’t found a nude shade that suits me. This one is definitely my pick of the bunch and if it isn’t at Sephora I sure hope Mecca get their hands on it.

Urban Decay Full Frontal Lipstick Stash Set RRP $39.00USD (around $45.00AUD) – Another mini lipstick set! I’m yet to the try the Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks but reviews I’ve read have been positive. I like the look of the shades in this set and think if your just getting into makeup this is the perfect little set to add into your collection, it seems to cover all bases shade wise. The shades are – Ladyflower (bright rose-pink), Crush (hot pink), Illicit (sheer baby pink), Gash (deep red w/tonal shimmer), Liar (pinky-brown nude) and F-Bomb (classic red). It also includes a full size clear lipliner. Not going to lie, kinda love the shade names lol!

Tarte Pin Up Girl Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush Palette RRP $42.00USD (around $48.00AUD) – Still coming in under a pineapple with the conversion (as at today anyway). I really really really want this one! I remember they released something similar last year and it sold out rather quickly and was very coveted by the beauty community. I only own one Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush, they are amazing. I want more!. This set contains 5 0.158oz (a full size is 0.2oz for reference) blushes in one sleek palette with the shades Breathless (pinky beige), Embraced (plummy rose), Whimsy (light pink), Bashful (rosy peach), Irreplaceable (mauve rose). It also contains 2 hair pins… I guess that’s the Pin Up Girl part of the deal.

There are new things being added frequently all the time so keep a look out on the site. Who else is counting down the days until Sephora opens in Sydney?

I now have the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette in my hands, and can I just say the hype is worth it.

If you are a previous owner of the other 2 Urban Decay Naked offerings (I don’t really bunch “Basics” in with these) then you will find an additional 12 unique shades to play with in this palette.

I’m not going to go into shade descriptions and all that jazz, you can read about eleven billion other blogs doing that.

I’ve used mine a couple of times now and have loved the outcome. So far my favourite shade of the bunch is Factory and my least favourite is Dust, however I found it’s a great shade to use to layer over other shadows for a bit of sparkle. I also love the 3 matte shades included and find they are totally unique to my collection (in particular Limit & Nooner).

I’m a fan of the packaging, I love the rose gold look to it and the fact that it is nice and sturdy and the brush included is actually of decent quality (unlike most brushes included in palettes which tend to make their way to my bin).

This is a look I did recently using the Naked 3, I can’t remember what shades I used and think I just kept adding to it to get a good try of a few shades. I think these shades work really well with my eye colour!

Now, how can you buy this if you are in Australia? I have a couple of options for you!

Look Fantastic – This is where I pre-ordered my UD Naked 3 palette. This was the first time I had used this site but reviews were great so I jumped in and ordered it. Product arrived approximately a week after they notified me it had been shipped, it turned up on my doorstep packaged well and I have no complaints! I keep getting discount emails from this site (like daily, which can be annoying) but I think I will keep them in mind for my future UD purchases, particularly if I can get a discount! Also shipping is free, always a major plus. (Note: This is currently sold out on the site, however you can put your name down to be notified when it is in stock).

Beauty Bay – They have been stocking this on and off (when it’s on the site) Unlike Look Fantastic you can’t put your name down to be notified when it’s back in stock (well not that I could find anyway). I’ve ordered from Beauty Bay multiple times and have never had an issue. Their customer service online is great and I love the fact they show the prices in $AUD. Again, free shipping! (Note: Currently not on the site, keep checking though it does make an appearance from time to time).

I’m looking forward to playing with this a bit more and seeing what looks I can create. Do you have the Naked 3? Do you love it?

I’m sure you’ve heard the news of Urban Decay releasing the Naked 3 palette and i’m sure you’re wanting to get your hands on one. Since Urban Decay isn’t stocked in Australia and we can’t order directly from them (or Sephora for that matter) it makes it a bit harder for us Aussies to pick one of these babies up.

Today I found a site that you can pre-order the Urban Decay Naked 3 from.  A UK based online store called Look Fantastic, Other amazing news is that they also have free shipping to Australia! I found site through one of my fave UK bloggers ViviannaDoesMakeup.

So the deal is you can pre-order with stock expected to be released on the 21st December (I know, a long wait but i’m sure it’s worth it!). The price is £37.00 which at the time of writing this translated to around $66AUD.  (I’ve pre-ordered mine!).

I’ve never shopped through this website before, so I am kind of taking a gamble but I checked out reviews and they seem very positive. If you’re a bit wary of using a different site I’m sure if you keep your eye on Beauty Bay that they will be stocking it as well.

If you want to see some swatches of the new UD Naked 3 check out the following posts from Temptalia & XSparkage.

If your a fan of the Urban Decay Naked Palette (seriously this is my HG product!) then surely you’ve heard of the sequel, the Naked 2!

When the initial palette was released it was like trying to pull teeth trying to get your hands on one and get it shipped to Australia, but luckily the UK online store Beauty Bay  came to the party and stocked and shipped them to us lucky Aussies.

Guess what? THEY HAVE THE NAKED 2! and wanna know something else? FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING (at time of posting this).

So of course as soon as I got the email, I ordered one and am now patiently waiting for it to arrive. All up with currency conversion it cost $55 which is less then 2 MAC eyeshadows here.
